The music production “Do kraju tego”/ “Echos from Home” is a cultural music project that delves into the intergenerational experience of a Canadian-born child and his Polish parent who emigrated from Polish in the 1980s. Together they set off on an extraordinary journey around Poland. They visit historical and cultural monuments, and their culmination is Krakow, the hometown of their parents. As part of this journey, the project explores the themes of identity, memory and heritage preservation in the context of the Polish Canadian diaspora.
This initiative is the result of the collaboration of two non-profit organizations – the Polonia Choir Society of Edmonton and the Łowicz Polish Folklore Ensemble of Edmonton, united in their mission to support cultural exchange and community engagement through the arts. The performance will take place at the historic Polish House in Edmonton and is intended to be an inclusive celebration for the local community, inviting audiences of all ages.
The event will be graced by a rich musical program that combines traditional Polish folk songs with well-known Polish popular music and poetry, encouraging audience participation and evoking a shared sense of cultural nostalgia and pride, combining verbal narration, poetry, music, traditional dance and costumes.
“Do kraju tego” not only does it honor the living traditions of Polish culture, but it also emphasizes the developing identity of the Polish Canadian community.
With its strong local roots and universal themes.
The poetic and musical production To the Country of That aims to strengthen cultural awareness, initiate intergenerational dialogue and provide a meaningful artistic experience for all who take part.
